We’ve loved Dragons Den forever and more so when we started our own small business. It inspires us that you can build something amazing from a small start and a big idea. Theo Paphitis is always an energetic and engaging businessman to listen to. We’ve often taken part in his Small Business Sunday challenge #SBS not expecting to win, but because it has such a great community spirit for small business owners.
Each Sunday 6 businesses are selected and they gain a retweet by Theo to his near half a million Twitter followers. The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 3,000 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK. Winners are invited to attend the annual #SBS networking event, take advantage of the networking opportunities that come from joining their directory, and are profiled on the #SBS website.
We were busy working through the Monday to package up a wholesale order and heard our phone pinging away, and were so excited to see that we’d been shared as #SBS winners!
“We’re really over the moon to join the Small Business Sunday community and the opportunities it can offer. We have been working hard since our official launch last year to get our products noticed so it’s wonderful our brand is getting exposure and it’s little steps like this that show we are heading the right direction.
In fact, we were so over the moon we had to do a happy celebration dance, check it out here.
Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas, and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Essench Cosmetics every success.”
Anyone looking to join the SBS community should follow @TheoPaphitis tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5 PM and 7.30 PM and include the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are re‐tweeted every Monday at 8 PM and then invited to join the community and enjoy the advantages of the networking opportunities.
